New Weymouth After School Program to Provide Students With Academic Support
The new program provides academic support for 40 students and will also include a six-week summer component.
The Weymouth Public Schools will start a new after school program for seventh and eighth graders in need of academic support.
The new after school program is a collaboration between Stars and the Weymouth Public Schools and will provide academic support for 40 students Monday through Thursday from dismissal until 5:30 p.m. and will also include a six-week summer component.
It is being funded by a three year, $504,000 grant from the state's 21st Century Community Learning Centers initiative, according to Jennifer Logue, a media representative from Stars.

The ribbon cutting for the new state funded program will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at the Chapman Middle School.
Weymouth Mayor Susan Kay, House Majority Leader Ron Mariano (D-Quincy), Stars Executive Director Sheri Adlin, Superintendent of Schools Kenneth Salim, Chapman Middle School Principal Kathleen Sheridan will all be in attendance.
