No, You Can't Get 3,000 Free Hot Pockets From This Weymouth Man

A craigslist prank had people calling a Weymouth man for microwavable snacks.

WEYMOUTH, MA — If you really thought that a person in Weymouth was giving away 3,000 free Hot Pockets on craigslist, chances are you were sorely disappointed when it turned out to be a prank.

An ad was posted on the website Wednesday from a person claiming that they were closing their convenience stores and wanted to give away the microwavable snack. The phone number included with the ad belonged to 25-year-old Nolan Powers’ phone number. Soon afterward, the ad was posted on r/Boston on Reddit and the phone calls began to come in.

While the ad has been taken down, Powers told WHDH that he received about 100 phone calls, including some from charities, schools, and summer camps. The good news is that Nestle, the company that makes Hot Pockets, heard about the tomfoolery and will be donating 3,000 Hot Pockets to Boston-area food banks.
