Waltham --- June 13, 2016 – The Norfolk South District Medical Society, with nearly 500 member physicians located throughout the South Shore of Massachusetts, has elected officers for 2016-2017.

Melody J. Eckardt, M.D., a board-certified obstetrician/gynecologist, has been re-elected as president. A graduate of Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, Dr. Eckardt completed a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Tufts University in Boston and holds a master’s degree from Harvard School of Public Health. She worked clinically at South Shore Hospital and at Boston University Medical Center. She currently serves as the director of programs for the Division of Global Health and Human Rights in the Department of Emergency Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital.

Also elected as district officers for 2016-17 are: John J. Walsh, M.D., a board-certified emergency room physician at south shore hospital, as vice president; Bartley G. Cilento, Sr., M.D., a retired pediatrician from Scituate, as secretary; and David G. Wong M.D., a board-certified anesthesiologist at South Shore Hospital, as treasurer.
