Patrick O'Connor and Michael Smart were both re-elected to the positions of president and vice-president.

WEYMOUTH, MA - Weymouth Town Council President Patrick O’Connor will serve another two-year term as the head of the board.
During a brief meeting Monday night, O’Connor was unanimously voted by the council to another term as president with no opposition or other nominations.

O’Connor touted rebuilding of Legion Field, eliminating the net school spending deficit, advocating for mental illness and substance abuse, long-term planning, and addressing Weymouth Landing as some of the board’s accomplishment over the past two years.
“That’s progress. I believe every single year this council meets we progress, we move forward, and we do it because we meet as a body set on one goal and that’s to make Weymouth the best community we can,” he said.

For the next term, goals for O’Conner and the board include building on the SouthField project, continuing to find a way to revitalize the Weymouth Landing, and addressing the opioid crisis in town.
“I think this is something that could be a local government solution and I think we should do as much as we can do to provide the model for all cities in the Commonwealth and beyond,” O’Conner said of the crisis.
Also earning another term as vice-president was Michael Smart, who received the unanimous support of the town council.
