Overdoses in Weymouth Remain On The Rise
2016 was the third year in a row fatal drug overdoses in town increased.

WEYMOUTH, MA — The opioid crisis continues to have a large effect on Weymouth, with deaths caused by an overdose increasing by over a third, according to police data.
During a community outreach presentation at the Fogg Public Library, Weymouth Police Sergeant James St. Croix said there were 220 overdoses and 38 deaths from opioids in Weymouth, according to WATD. The deaths are an increase over 24 in 2015 and 14 in 2014.
The increases are consistent with state trends. Unintentional opioid overdoses accounted for 1,465 deaths last year, while between 469-562 deaths were suspected to be opioid-related, according to the DPH report recently released.
