Pair Arrested in Weymouth on Break-in Charges

Police say the same people were arrested in Weymouth last year.

WEYMOUTH, MA — Two people who were charged with breaking into a home in Weymouth last year face new charges after being arrested last Wednesday.

Richard J. Curtis, 32, of Holbrook, and Amanda Powell, 28, of Brockton, were charged with breaking and entering during the daytime for a felony, receiving stolen property under $250, possession of burglarious instruments, two counts of possession of oxycodone and conspiracy, according to the Patriot Ledger.

Last Saturday, a resident on Elmer Road told police that Powell went to her home and requested money for a cancer walk. A short time later, the resident said she saw a Toyota enter a driveway and go up and down the street several tiems.

Wednesday, police received a report from the street that someone took jewelry from a home. As police investigated the scene, a Toyota matching the suspect's car came down the street. The two were arrested. Police say they found gloves, flashlights, screwdrivers, jewelry, and more inside the vehicle.

During their arraignment in Quincy District Court, Curtis was ordered held on $5,000 bail and Powell was held on $1,000 bail. They are scheduled to return to court April 25.
