Firefighter Behind Wheel Of Fatal Pedestrian Crash

A vehicle driven by a Hull firefighter paramedic struck the victim on Route 3A in Weymouth Monday evening.

WEYMOUTH, MA — A firefighter paramedic was behind the wheel of a fatal pedestrian crash Monday evening on Bridge Street, officials confirmed.

Hull Fire Chief Chris Russo said in a statement that Brian Snow was in the crash. Snow "immediately went to the aid" of the victim after the crash, Russo said, citing witness statements.

Police identified the victim Tuesday morning as 71-year-old William Fredette, of Brockton. He was struck around 5:55 p.m. on Route 3A.

No charges have been filed. Snow was transported to South Shore Hospital to be evaluated.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the victim and their family as well our member that was involved in this tragic accident," Russo said.
