Pemboke Man Charged With Fleeing Weymouth Crash That Injured 3

Police say John Karol crashed head-on into another car and ran away.

WEYMOUTH, MA — A Pembroke man charged with fleeing the scene after allegedly crashing his friend's truck into another car in Weymouth will be arraigned in Norfolk Superior Court in Dedham.

John E. Karol, 21, was indicted on charges of negligent driving, violating marked lanes, leaving the scene of a crash causing property damage and personal injury and three counts of aggravated assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, according to the Patriot Ledger. The indictment moves the case from Quincy District Court to the higher court where more serious crimes are tried.

On Aug. 6, 2016, police in Weymouth responded to a report of a crash near the intersection of Green Street and Julia Road. One witness told police that Karol ran from the scene after the crash and he was driving around 60 mph when the crash happened.

Police were unable to find Karol. Three people in the other car were taken to South Shore Hospital with injuries.

Karol is due back in court April 11.
