Police Lieutenant Charged with Defrauding Quincy Police Department
Thomas Corliss, 51, was indicted on 12 counts of mail fraud and one count of fraud involving federal funds.

QUINCY, MA — A Quincy Police Lieutenant collected double pay while working for his police department last year, authorities said.
Thomas Corliss, 51, was indicted on 12 counts of mail fraud and one count of fraud involving federal funds. Corliss was released on conditions following an appearance before U.S. District Court Magistrate Judge Jennifer C. Boal, according to the U.S. Attorney's office.
According to the indictment, Corliss fraudulently collected double pay for working multiple details and police shifts that overlapped on multiple occasions in 2015. It is also alleged that Corliss collected his regular pay while on vacation in the Bahamas and on Cape Cod in 2015. An internal investigation revealed that Corliss cost the Quincy Police Department over $10,000.

If found guilty, Corliss faces up to 20 years in prison, three years of supervised release and a fine of $250,000 for the mail fraud charge. Fraud involving federal funds comes with a sentence of up to 10 years in prison, three years of supervised release, and a fine of 250,000.
