Procession for Fallen Rockland Solider Comes Through Weymouth
A funeral procession was held for Staff Sergeant Sean Christoper O'Connell of Rockland.
WEYMOUTH, MA – Local public safety departments paid tribute to a fallen solider has he made is way home Wednesday.
A funeral procession was held for Staff Sergeant Sean Christoper O’Connell of Rockland, who died of natural causes while on a hunting trip in Maine. Local departments stood at attention on overpasses as the procession passed.
O’Connell is a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom 2003, Operation Enduring Freedom-Afghanistan 2010-2011, and 2014, according to the Quincy Fire Department He was a recipient of the Combat Action Badge and multiple commendations.

While he was currently serving on active duty with the Army Corps of Engineers, Sean was also a proud member of Local 4 Union of Operating Engineers. In addition to his combat tours, O’Connell made huge impacts during missions including mentorship programs advising Paraguayan military forces, supporting United States Border Patrol operations, construction of roads and facilities in several states, and supporting the community during several state emergencies here in Massachusetts.
