Route 18 Lane Closures Expected During Tree Removal Work
The work is expected to take about two weeks.

From the Massachusetts Department of Transportation:
The Massachusetts Department of Transportation has announced that beginning on Monday, Feb. 5, and continuing for approximately two weeks, crews and contractors will begin tree removal operations as part of the Route 18 Improvement Project in Weymouth and Abington.
In order to allow personnel to safely and effectively conduct these operations, a lane closure will be in place on weekdays during the off-peak hours of 10 a.m., through 2 p.m., meaning that there will be one alternating lane of travel. These landscaping and tree removal operations will take place along Route 18 between Clark Street in Abington, and Fountain Lane in Weymouth, within the roadway right-of-way.

These operations are necessary to prepare for the start of roadway widening in select locations later in 2018. The work will begin in Abington and proceed north into Weymouth. The full work hours will be Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m., to 4 p.m., and times may be adjusted as traffic conditions warrant.
Signage and police details will be present to direct traffic. Drivers that must travel through the affected area should be mindful of potential delays, reduce speed, and use caution. The schedule for these operations is weather dependent and subject to change without notice.
