South Shore Bank Launches 6th Season of Leadership South Shore

Leadership South Shore is seeking applicants for its 6th season of training and developing community-minded leaders. Leadership South Shore was established by South Shore Bank in partnership with the South Shore Chamber of Commerce. This celebrated program leads participants through a yearlong immersive learning curriculum, graduating a group of individuals who are committed to transformative leadership in our community. Each year, this program selects a diverse group of emerging leaders who want to advance their personal and professional development and make genuine connections within their class. Leadership South Shore 2022-23 is accepting applications through July 22.

Leadership South Shore was conceived by South Shore Bank CEO James Dunphy to provide emerging leaders with the understanding of what is unique about our region so they can learn to navigate and embrace opportunity and challenges, allowing them to help build, define, and promote the South Shore. “Leadership South Shore is a process for emerging and established leaders to connect and inspire others to increase civic engagement, build vibrant communities, and strengthen the South Shore. Informed leaders make informed decisions, and that’s why we do this,” said Dunphy.

Leadership South Shore has produced more than 100 highly motivated graduates who take the knowledge obtained during this program to make a positive impact in their workplaces and communities. This thought-provoking community leadership program examines regional challenges and opportunities through expert panel discussions, virtual and on-site visits, presentations, focus groups, interactive training, and other innovative, experiential activities. These programs have included Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Day and examinations of Health and Human Services, Education System, Justice System, Economic Development and Arts and Culture, among others.

Leadership South Shore runs from October through May, with a September graduation. Participants attend a program day once each month during fall and spring. Participants are required to attend all program days, as full participation is a key pillar to the program’s success. Applicants are asked to submit an Employer Commitment Form to assure mutual understanding and support of anticipated participation requirements.
