South Shore Business Owner Raises Money For Abused Dog

An owner of a Hingham pet care center is raising money for a dog that was attacked last week in Hull.

Hingham business owner Robin Fox is raising money for a 10-pound Yorkshire terrier that was abused by an unknown man on Nantasket beach last week.

Cleo, the furry Yorkshire terrier is now blind and needs surgery after she was kicked in the right eye at the Hull beach, Fox explained.  The dog, who was treated at the VCA in Weymouth, suffered a hemorrhage to her right eye, which caused the blindness.  Fox said the injuries from the attack were so bad they she will likely lose her eye.

The suspect, who is described as a middle-aged white male with salt and pepper hair is still being searched for by Hull police, Fox said.  The suspect allegedly kicked the dog because he was annoyed that it was not on a leash.

Now Fox, who owns A Fox and Hounds Pet Care at the corner of Beal and Churchill Streets, said she hopes to raise money for the pooch’s eye surgery which may cost up to $3,000.

Cleo’s owners are having financial difficulties and are unable to get the medical care that she desperately needs so Fox is now collecting funds at her Hingham business.

“I don’t know the dog, I don’t know the owners,” Fox said.  “I just want to help the community as much as I can.”

To donate money for Cleo’s surgery, Hingham residents can visit A. Fox and Hounds Pet Care and drop money in a collection jar.  Donations can also be made to a special fund set up for Cleo through the Hull Animal Control.  They can be mailed or dropped off at the Hull Police Station at 1 School St, Hull, MA 02045. Attn: Ashley Mills.

Fox's business is located on the Hingham and Weymouth line and offers South Shore families daycare, overnight boarding, grooming and transportation for  their dogs.
