WEYMOUTH, MA — A $62 million investment in South Shore Hospital is about to pay off for patients.

This weekend, the hospital celebrated the opening of the Richard and Joann Aubut Critical Care Unit. The CCU is a part of a large construction project that also involves renovating South Shore Hospital’s former critical care area on the sixth floor of the Pratt Building into a 24-bed patient care unit, according to the hospital's website.

Funding for the CCU was made possible by a capital project fundraising campaign called Mission Critical: The Campaign for Our 2nd Century.
