South Shore Hospital Launches New Exercise Program For 2013

Classes include AM workouts, teen conditioning and shape and tone classes.

The South Shore Hospital will be holding a variety of exercise programs help residents achieve their New Years Resolution of losing weight.

Any resident can now sign up for the following South Shore Hospital Community Exercise classes which begin on January 5.  To register, call (781) 624-4367.


Shape and Tone:  for any individual trying to improve body composition and overall health.  Held in the hospital’s therapeutic pool from 9-10 a.m. $35 for 5 weeks

Teen Conditioning:  for any teen between the ages of 13 and 16 looking to become more fit.  Held in the hospital’s therapeutic pool from 11-12 p.m.  $35 for 5 weeks

Arthritis Foundation Aquatic Program:  for anyone with any form of arthritis.  Focus is to improve flexibility and strength and to help control pain. Held in the hospital’s 92 degree therapeutic pool from 10-11a.m. or 11a.m. – 12 p.m. $35 for 5 weeks

Post-natal Aquatic Conditioning Program:  for any new mother looking to tone, strengthen, and improve endurance.  Held in hospital’s therapeutic pool from 9-10 a.m. or 10-11a.m.  $35 for 5 weeks

The following classes are held during the week:

Intermediate Senior Strength Training: for any senior looking to improve function, flexibility, and strength.  Held Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. at the 780 Main Street Satellite Gym, Weymouth.

Movement and Balance:  exercises in this gym and pool program are designed to improve balance, motion, and function.  Mondays in the gym at 780 Main Street are from 2-3 p.m. and Thursdays are in the pool from 1-2 p.m.  

MS Aquatic Program:  designed to improve endurance, decrease fatigue, and increase well-being. Taught by a certified exercise physiologist. Call (781) 624-4367 for details.

Post Total Joint Conditioning Program: open to any individual who is post-total joint replacement to improve flexibility, function, and strength. Exercises include resistance and cardiovascular training. Call (781) 624-4367 for details.

Shape Up Fitness: Exercise program for children between the ages of 10 and 16 who want to manage their weight and improve coordination. Call (781) 624-4367 for details.

AM Workout:  open to anyone trying to squeeze in a workout before a busy day. The program includes core strengthening, muscle endurance exercises, and flexibility work. Call (781) 624-4367 for details.
