The rankings were conducted by health.usnews.com who ranked hospitals based on 16 specialties which included the category, “ear, nose and throat.”
The South Shore Hospital was among just 147 facilities to be ranked in even one of the 16 specialties rankings.

They received high-performing honors in Diabetes & Endocrinology, Gastroenterology & GI Surgery, Geriatrics, Gynecology, Nephrology, Neurology & Neurosurgery, Orthopedics, Pulmonology, and Urology.
Overall, the hospital was ranked sixth best hospital in Massachusetts and fifth best in the Boston metro area. Mass General Hospital was ranked first in both of these categories.
