South Shore Hospital Recognized as Fit-Friendly Worksite
SSH employees are offered health coaching, health screening clinics, and summer fitness program.

The American Heart Association recently named the South Shore Hospital as a Fit-Friendly Worksite by for helping employees eat better and move more.
South Shore Hospital promotes well-being for its employees through its “Choices for Healthy Living” Program which offers opportunities such as onsite health coaching, health screening clinics, and summer fitness program, according to hospital spokeswoman Sarah Darcy.
The hospital’s employees also participate in onsite yoga and aerobics classes.

Robert Wheeler, vice president of Human Resources said physical activity and employee wellness are important priorities at South Shore Hospital.
"We are honored and excited to be recognized by the American Heart Association as a Platinum-Level Fit-Friendly Worksite,” Wheeler said. “We’re committed to providing the healthiest workplace environment possible.”

Platinum-level employers implement at least nine criteria outlined by the American Heart Association in the areas of physical activity, nutrition and culture. They also promote a wellness culture in the workplace, offer employees physical activity options, increase healthy eating options at the worksite and
demonstrate measurable outcomes related to workplace wellness.
The Fit-Friendly Worksites program is a catalyst for positive change in the American workforce, helping employers help their employees make health and wellness a priority, Darcy said.
