At the Town Council meeting on Southfield - Councilor Harrington stated to Starwood " You guys are going to make a ton of money on this the Town should make some too" I hope he just did not choose his words correctly. It is not the governments role to "MAKE" money. It is to collect enough revenue to provide the services that it's residents require. Not a penny more or a penny less. Government is not a "For-Profit" business. I don't want business shying away from Weymouth because they think we believe in a Town profit sharing plan. I hope that Councilor Harrington meant that since Starwood will be profiting from this business deal it is structure in a way that the tax revenue received will satisfy all costs current and some future associated with the development in accordance to the revised plan.
Once we see the revised numbers and the nuts and bolts of the proposal we will see if SouthField will become a thriving community or a soon to be abandoned wasteland.
I will be posting more on www.primiano4towncouncil.comor the next few days.
