State Will Take A Year To Review Proposed Compressor Station

Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs Secretary Matthew Beaton said the assessment of the proposal will take 10 to 12 months.

WEYMOUTH, MA — It could be the end of 2018 by the time the state completes their review of a proposed 7,700-horsepower compressor station sited for North Weymouth.

In a letter to Mayor Robert Hedlund, Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs Secretary Matthew Beaton said the assessment of the proposal will take 10 to 12 months. Hedlund told the Patriot Ledger that the assessment creates a welcomed and significant delay.

The proposed station received a conditional certificate from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, but residents and local officials have come out strongly against the station.
