Taxi Driver in Weymouth Charged with Drugged Driving with Children in Vehicle

Police say William P. Drummy was on a Valium-type prescription drug while driving three children.

Police arrested a taxi driver in Weymouth Friday morning after he allegedly drove while on a prescription drug, with kids in the vehicle.

William P. Drummy Jr., 52, of Quincy, was arrested and charged with operating under the influence of drugs, operating to endanger, three counts of reckless endangerment of children under 18, operating a motor vehicle with an open container of alcohol, and motor vehicle violations according to the Patriot Ledger.

WHDH reports that the driver was taking three kids to school Friday morning when he began driving at a high rate of speed. The kids in the car asked Drummy to slow down, which he did, before allegedly trying to pass a vehicle on Main Street.

Police said Drummy appeared drowsy and seemed to be falling asleep while standing. Drummy admitted to taking a Valium-type prescription drug about an hour before picking up the kids.

One child told police they saw him take a drink of whiskey. Officers discovered a half empty bottle of alcohol in the trunk.
