Town Can Advance in Chapman Middle School Feasibility Study

WEYMOUTH, MA — Weymouth can move onto the next step of the Chapman Middle School study after receiving the go ahead from the Massachusetts School Building Authority.

The MSBA approved the town's application, allowing the town to hire a building project manager and design team to evaluate whether the school should be renovated or replaced, the Weymouth News reported.

Last month, the Weymouth Town Council approved $1 million in funding for the feasibility study.

The 54-year-old school needs nearly $15.5 million in upgrades, according to a 2013 maintenance review.

The study could take up to two years.
