Two Men in Weymouth Waters Saved from Capsized Dinghy

Two men from Quincy and Weymouth were saved late Tuesday night after their dinghy capsized.

Two men in a dinghy boat who capsized are alive thanks to a quick-thinking neighbor.

At about 10 p.m. Tuesday night, police in Weymouth responded to a report of a call for help from the water near the Fort Point Road/Parnell Street area.

A couple of residents in the area attempted to use kayaks to save the two and were able to reach the men who were in the water just outside of the channel off of Fort Point Road according to the Weymouth Police Department.

The two men, who did not have life vests on, were secured from the water onto the Quincy Marine Unit boat and brought to an awaiting ambulance at Tern Harbor Marina.

The two men were identified as a 38-year-old male from Weymouth and a 33-year-old male from Quincy.

No other victims were found during a search it was later determined that the two men were the only people in the dinghy when it capsized.

The investigation as to why the men were in the dinghy at a late hour remains under investigation.
