Union Point Gets First Commercial Tenant
It took an offer of free land, but a new tenant is coming to the former naval air base.

WEYMOUTH, MA — After making an unusual offer for free property for the first commercial tenant, Union Point has an occupant.
Netherlands-based electronics manufacturer Prodrive Technologies has agreed to come to the former naval air base and build a 300,000-square-foot complex, according to the Boston Globe. Up to 300 people are expected to work there by 2020 and 500 by 2025.
The redeveloped land has seen use as a movie studio, with films like Ghostbusters and Patriots Day shooting scenes at the property formerly known as SouthField.

In other deals, Houston-based Patrinely Group has agreed to build 150,000 square feet of offices and 25,000 square feet of retail space and Charlotte's The Keith Corp. will develop a 150,000-square-foot medical building.
