Weymouth Appeals Ruling to Rehire Crossing Guards
The Town laid off 14 crossing guards in 2010 but now they might be rehired.

The Town of Weymouth has been ordered by the state to rehire 14 crossing guards after they were laid off in 2010 and now they are appealing it.
The ruling came on July 12 by the state Department of Labor Relations, who also ordered the town to give the crossing guards three years of back pay, according to Boston.com
The crossing guards were laid-off in June 2010 after Police Chief Richard Grimes chose to eliminate the crossing guard positions rather than lay off two patrol officers.
