Weymouth Boy Scouts Save Hiker on Mt. Monadnock

Seven members of Weymouth’s Troop 9 are being commended for saving an injured hiker on New Hampshire’s Mt. Monadnock.

On Saturday, the boys, who are between the ages of 12 and 17, found the hiker who suffered an injured ankle on her descent from the top of the mountain according to WFXT. While she initially declined the boys’ help, she accepted their offer after she realized she was unable to walk.

Working together, Sebastian Pizzuto, Jacob Preble, Dillon Lawlor, Matt Freitas, Shayne Galvin, Nick Ames and Tommy Jaklitsch created a splint for the injured leg and carried her down the mountain, needing four hours to navigate the terrain.

The hiker was taken to the hospital, where doctors told her she could have suffered a fracture.
