WEYMOUTH, MA — The recent completion of signage at the Woodbine Conservation Area and Cavern Rock is part of the improvement plan the Weymouth Open Space Committee has been able to oversee in its first year. The committee is charged with overseeing five miles of trails in the town — including the Bradford Torrey Bird Sanctuary, Great Pond Trail, Woodbine Conservation Area, Cavern Rock and House Rock.

Weymouth announced it recently received approval from the Massachusetts Department of Transportation to begin work on the Great Esker Park trail improvement project with the help of a $50,000 grant from the Department of Conservation and Recreation. That project will complete parking improvements, create a handicapped-accessible entrance and increase signage. Donations from local business partners and CPA funds are also being used in the project.

Work on that project is anticipated to begin this winter and the project to be completed in the late spring or early summer.
