Weymouth Dog Daycare Shut Down After Dog's Death

Officials have suspended the kennel's license while they investigate the death.

WEYMOUTH, MA – A Weymouth kennel has been shut down while officials investigate the death of a dog in its care. Weymouth Animal Control Officer Michael Parker responded to K-9 Daycare on May 29 for a report of a dead dog in a kennel and an investigation was launched into the death.

Town officials suspended the kennel's license on Monday, June 4 based on the preliminary findings of the investigation, police said. Investigators also found "multiple violations" of the town's kennel regulations, including the failure to provide water, failure to properly crate and failure to produce records, according to a police statement.

The suspension will remain in effect pending the results of the investigation. A necropsy will also be conducted.
