Weymouth Heads to the Polls Tuesday

The mayor’s office, seats on the school committee, and spots on the town council are all up for grabs Tuesday when Weymouth goes to vote Tuesday.

State Senator Robert Hedlund, who is running for mayor for the second time challenges Mayor Susan Kay, who is running for her third term in office.

Previously, Hedlund and Kay both ran in 1999 when Weymouth changed to a town council-mayor form of government according to the Boston Globe. Kay was defeated in the preliminary election while Hedlund lost by about 1,600 votes to former fire chief David Madden.

In the councilor-at-large race. Challenger Christopher Primiano is running with incumbents Robert Conlon, Jane Hacket, Brian McDonald, Michael Molisse, and Patrick O’Connor. There are six candidates for five seats.

School committee members Tracey Nardone and Gail Sheehan face a challenge from Matthew Eric Bryer, Scott Kettell, and John P. Sullivan. There are three seats up for election on the committee.

Polls in Weymouth are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
