Weymouth High School Student Receives MIAA Student-Athlete of the Month Award
Weymouth High School Head Volleyball and Head Basketball Coach Christy Hay said senior Kelley Barrett is not only a very good athlete, but she is also a top role model within Weymouth High School.

Weymouth Volleyball star Kelley Barrett was recently named the MIAA Student-Athlete of the Month for September 2012.
The MIAA credited the Weymouth senior athlete for her teamwork, leadership and the positive example that she sets for others as a captain of both the volleyball and girls basketball teams
Barrett scores big on the court and in the classroom. She has helped lead both the basketball team and volleyball teams to recent appearances in the MIAA South Sectional Tournaments while earning a 3.578 grade point average. She is also an active member of the National Honors Society and is in the top ten percent of the senior class at Weymouth High School.

Barrett also gives back to the community by volunteering on a daily basis with the Life Skills program at Weymouth, theSpecial Olympics and Best Buddies Programs. At college, she aspires to earn a degree in Special Education.
According to the MIAA, she is currently working on her capstone project to organize a dance for students in the Life Skills and Best Buddies programs at two separate schools.

“Her ability to balance school, work, and still excel in sports is remarkable,” Hay sai. On top of being intelligent, she is also kind and caring to all teammates, staff, peers and younger players in the program.”
The “Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA) Student-Athlete of the Month Award” is presented on a monthly basis to one male and one female student-athlete who display excellence in the areas of academics, athletics and community service.
