Weymouth Homeowner Walks in on Break-in

A man who came home for lunch was greeted by a man allegedly taking items from his house, police said.

WEYMOUTH, MA — A Weymouth man faces break-in charges after the homeowner allegedly caught him when he returned for lunch, police said.

John Galvin, 37, faces charges of breaking and entering in the daytime to commit a felony, malicious destruction of property over $250, larceny from a building, assault and battery, and wanton destruction of property over $250. He was arraigned in Quincy District Court Thursday, according to the Patriot Ledger.

At around 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, police learned that Galvin allegedly broke into a home on Birch Cliff Road. The resident noticed the man when he returned home for lunch. Police found the suspect on Island View Road with a backpack full of items he allegedly took.

Galvin is due back in court on Feb. 23.
