Weymouth Man Charged with Drunken Driving, Hitting Pedestrian

A Weymouth man faces multiple charges after allegedly hitting a person and several parked cars on Shea Memorial Drive.
Stephen P. Burke. 46, was arrested Saturday afternoon and charged with drugged driving and negligent operation causing serious bodily injury, drunken driving and negligent operation of a motor vehicle causing serious bodily harm, drunken driving (second offense), operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, and negligent operation of a motor vehicle according to the Weymouth Police Department.
At around 2 p.m., an officer working a private detail responded to the crash in the parking lot adjacent to the Southfield soccer fields. The officer observed a motor vehicle crash involving a blue Volkswagen Jetta, an adult male pedestrian, and several parked motor vehicles.

The male victim was taken to South Shore Hospital and later transferred to Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston with serious injuries.
Burke is being held on $25,000 bail.
