Weymouth Man Serves as New Editor of Boston Globe

From paperboy to Editor-in-Chief.

In case you haven’t heard, a Weymouth High School graduate is now running the Boston Globe.

Brian McGrory,  a 1980 Weymouth High graduate was named the new Editor-in-Chief of the Boston Globe in December, according to Betsy Harris of the Weymouth Public Schools.

McGrory, age 51,   served as a metro columnist for the Globe before he was appointed to replace  former Globe editor Marty Baron, who left to become Executive Editor of The Washington Post.

Growing up in Weymouth, McGrory was a paperboy for the Globe, according to Poynter.org.

As the new editor, he said he wants more digging, more narrative journalism, more reporting that holds people accountable and more enterprise stories on the front page, according to poynter.org.
