Weymouth Mayor Promises More Cash for Schools

Mayor Susan Kay recently said that she will have a measure by the town council's Dec. 21 meeting.

Weymouth, MA - A $350,000 infusion of funds for the Weymouth Public School is on the way, according to Mayor Susan Kay, but school committee members are wondering why she has yet to filled a measure with the town council.

Kay said the delay is due to an effort to coordinate the transfer the reserve money and vet numbers with her successor, state Sen. Robert Hedlund, according to the Patriot Ledger. Kay denied a plan to withhold the money.

Kay said she would submit the measure by the town council’s Dec. 21 meeting but School Committee Chairwoman Lisa Belmarsh said at a recent meeting that she won’t be confident until she sees it in front of the council.
