Weymouth Mayor Rejects Spectra Compressor Station Deal
Mayor Robert Hedlund has said no to a $47 million deal that would have seen the town dropping their opposition to a compressor station.

WEYMOUTH, MA - Mayor Robert Hedlund said Friday that the town will not accept a $47 million deal in exchange for dropping their opposition to a proposed compressor station in North Weymouth.

The announcement comes two days after the deadline from Spectra Energy to accept the offer.

The proposal to build a compressor station near the Fore River Bridge has been wildly unpopular. Officials in the neighboring towns of Quincy and Braintree were not consulted on the offer, with the Braintree Town Council voting to write a letter of non-support to Spectra
