Weymouth Man Pleads Innocent in Fatal Stabbing

Martin McDonald was arraigned in Fall River Superior Court.

WEYMOUTH, MA - A Weymouth man arrested in January for allegedly stabbing his estranged wife to death has been arraigned in Fall River Superior Court.

Martin McDonald, 35, pleaded innocent during his arraignment Friday according to the Sun Chronicle. He was ordered held without bail.

On Jan. 27 2016, police in Norton received a report of a stabbing in the apartment of Julie Meede. First responders found Meede unresponsive and she was transported to Sturdy Memorial Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

After the alleged murder, McDonald got into a Dodge Ram pickup truck and traveled south on Route 495. While on the highway, he crossed over the median and struck a Nissan traveling in the northbound lane. The driver, a 30-year-old Rhode Island woman, was seriously injured and transported to Rhode Island Hospital.

A trial date has not been set.
