It's a Snow Week: Weymouth Schools Will Not Have Classes This Week

Due to the storm cleanup and staff development, Weymouth students will not return to class this week.

Will the students of the Weymouth Public Schools have school this week? With the cancellation of Thursday’s classes, the answer is no.

For the fourth day in a row, students in Weymouth will not have school as the town continues the clean up the mess left by Monday’s snowstorm.

With staff development on Friday, Weymouth students will not have a single day of school this week or next week due to the February break scheduled for Feb. 16 - 20.

“Due to the continuing challenge with road conditions town wide, and our primary concern for the safety of our students, all Weymouth Public Schools will be closed on Thursday, February 12th. All Programs will be closed on Thursday and all after school activities are cancelled,” an announcement reads on the Weymouth Public Schools website.

A plan for how to make up the snow days is expected to be created and announced over the next few weeks.

Stuck with 27.5 inches of snow in addition to the snow left by two previous storms, resuming school has proven to be quite difficult. On Wednesday, National Guard were around town helping with the effort to remove snow.
