Weymouth Sisters to Race in Elite Mile at Falmouth Road Race

Kacie and Kelly Higgins have both been invited to race in the Tommy Cochary High School Mile as part of the Falmouth Road Race.

Two Weymouth sisters and runners will be among 20 athletes who will face off in the Tommy Cochary High School Mile as part of this weekend’s activities for the Falmouth Road Race.

Kacie and Kelly Higgins have been invited to the elite race, which includes some of the best high school runners in the area.

An incoming senior at Weymouth High School, Kacie finished seventh in the 2-mile run at the MIAA Division 1 East Championship meet. Kelly also qualified for the same meet, placing seventh in the 800 run.

As members of the Weymouth 4x800 team, the two advanced to the MIAA All-State Championship meet, placing sixth.

High school students in Massachusetts and 2015 graduates are qualified to apply for the race. During the application process, 10 boys and 10 girls are chosen to partake in the race..

The winners of both the boys’ and girls’ miles will have a grant of $2,500 awarded to their school in their name to be used in a way that implements change in athletics or wellness, such as new equipment, team uniforms, or after-school wellness activities according to a press release.
