Weymouth Suspect in Norton Murder Splits with Lawyer

NORTON, MA — A Weymouth man charged with stabbing his estranged girlfriend is looking for a new attorney.
Tuesday, Dana Sargent of New Bedford withdrew from two of Martin McDonald's cases in Attleboro District Court, the Sun Chronicle reported. She is expected to drop out of the murder case, citing communication issues.
In January, McDonald allegedly stabbed Julie Meede in front of her three children inside her Norton apartment. He also allegedly punched a child that saw the attack. Meede was taken to Sturdy Memorial Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The same evening, McDonald allegedly crashed his truck into another vehicle on Interstate 495, injuring another woman.
McDonald pleaded not guilty to the murder case. He has been ordered held in jail without bail.
