Weymouth Tire Thieves Also Tried To Steal Car, Police Say

Police say two Rhode Island men almost made it back to their home state before they were taken into custody by State Police.

WEYMOUTH, MA — A pair of Rhode Island teens were ordered held on bail after allegedly stealing tires and a car in Weymouth, according to court documents.

Jordany Rosario, 18, of Cranston and Ramon Silverio, 18, of Providence pleaded not guilty in Quincy District Court to two counts of taking and stealing motor vehicle parts, motor vehicle larceny, and two counts of possession of burglarious instruments. Silverio was also charged with receiving a stolen motor vehicle and Rosario was charged with number plate violation to conceal ID. Rosario was ordered held on $3,500 cash bail and Silverio was ordered held on $2,000 cash bail.

Rosario’s bail out of Dedham District Court was revoked, meaning that he can be held in jail for up to 90 days without bail.

Police responded to a report of tire theft at Mediterranean Woods during the early hours of Jan. 28. A witness told police that she saw two men take tires from her friend’s Honda CRV. As police arrived, the suspects jumped over a guardrail and into the woods and backup officers were ordered to make a perimeter around the woods. Police were unable to find them, according to a police report.

Officers at the scene officers noticed that there was a tire on the ground, the CRV was next to a Ford Fusion on milk crates with three missing tires and the fourth on the car but with no lug nuts, and lug nuts on the ground near a t-shaped tire iron.

Police found an ID and an iPhone belonging to Rosario near the scene, according to the police report.

At 7:41 a.m., officers responded to a call from a Lincoln Square Gas Station who said two people stole their co-worker’s car. She told police that the two asked where the nearest train station was because they were trying to get back to Providence. A short time later, the worker allegedly saw the two steal a Honda Civic.

Surveillance footage showed that the two suspects at the gas station matched the description of the two at Mediterranean Woods. Rosario and Silverio were located by State Police in the Civic in the breakdown lane of Interstate 295 South. They were taken into custody and transported into the custody of the Weymouth Police Department.

Both men are due back in court Feb. 28.
