Weymouth Woman Arrested After Crashing into Police Car

Cherylann Kelley allegedly took police on a high-speed chase that started in Cohasset and ended in Quincy.

A Weymouth woman faces multiple charges after allegedly crashing into a police cruiser following a chase up the South Shore.

Cherylann Kelley, 43, was arrested and held without bail, according to the Cohasset Police Department. She was charged with drunken driving, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, failure to stop for a police officer, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (a bottle), assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (motor vehicle), resisting arrest, and several other motor vehicle charges.

At 9:30 p.m. Tuesday night, a 911 caller told police that a woman at a gas station on King Street in Cohasset was acting in a bizarre manner. According to the caller, Kelley approached his vehicle, opened the door, and threw a bottle, striking him with it.

As police arrived, Kelley left the scene at a high rate of speed, refusing to stop for police.

After a chase up Route 3A through Cohasset, Hingham, and Weymouth, Kelley was stopped at the intersection of Washington Street and McGrath Highway in Quincy, where she allegedly drove into a Hingham police cruiser attempting to block her in.

Kelley was scheduled to be arraigned in Quincy District Court Wednesday morning.
