Woman in Weymouth Break-in Arrested Following K9 Search

Police say a homeless woman entered a home through a bedroom window.

WEYMOUTH, MA — A woman who was found laying in a home was arraigned in Quincy District Court Wednesday morning.

Nicole M. Saunders, 29, listed as homeless, was arrested Tuesday and charged with breaking and entering in the daytime for a felony and three outstanding warrants for her arrest. She is free on personal recognizance.

At approximately 12:43 p.m., officers responded to a report of a break-in on Leisure Terrace. The homeowner told police that he came home and noticed that the heat was on, something he did not do. When he entered the bedroom, he allegedly found Saunders laying in bed. Following a debate and Saunders' refusal to leave, the homeowner said he was going to call police because she's not supposed to be in the home.

Saunders admitted to entering through a window before fleeing. A K-9 unit found her hiding in a backyard of a residence a short distance away on Washington Street.

A defense attorney for Saunders said while she was not supposed to be at the home, her mother lives there and allowed her to come and go at times, most recently in March.
