3. Williamstown approves Hometown Heroes banners after two-hour debate over military imagery (berkshireeagle.com) — Williamstown's Select Board has approved a three-year Hometown Heroes banner program honoring local veterans on Route 2 utility poles between the North Adams line and Cole Avenue. After two hours of debate over military imagery and aesthetics, the board voted 4-1, with families paying for banners and financial help promised for those in need, aiming to launch by Memorial Day.
4. PREVIEW: Chamber ensemble Lyracle to make Berkshire County debut Oct. 3 (theberkshireedge.com) — Williamstown residents can hear historical music ensemble Lyracle in its Berkshire County debut this Saturday, Oct. 3, at First Congregational Church. The voice-and-viol duo will perform "Commonplace," a program built from 15th–18th century personal music notebooks, as they relocate their historically informed concerts from the Boston area to a new base in western Massachusetts.
5. In the 'Eyes' of the storm, students brave wind and rain for WALLS (williamsrecord.com) — Williams College students in Williamstown braved a nor'easter forecast to camp outside the Williams College Museum of Art for the annual WALLS art-loan event, hoping to snag favorite pieces for their dorms. Despite wind and rain concerns and museum warnings, students improvised tents and tarps, moved into Goodrich Hall when the weather worsened, and ultimately claimed all 126 available artworks.
