What's that saying about making lemonade out of lemons?
What’s that saying about making lemonade out of lemons? The girls and boys basketball teams from Abundant Life Christian School arrived Friday morning to discover that the huge snowbanks in their school parking lot had been turned into a mega-congratulatory banner celebrating their big wins the night before. Team members and coaches bundled up and headed outside to become part of the snowy tribute.
In the early game Thursday, February 26th, the Middle School Girls beat Greater Boston Academy 19-5 to take home the first place trophy. Coach Jeff Bishop credited his team’s monster effort on defense for securing the win. Assisted by Coach Bill Jarzynka, the Knights played a tough defensive game against the aggressive GBA team. Hannah Lundquist of Reading, led a good inside scoring attack, that was complemented by the outside shooting of Tayler Aylward of Woburn.
The late game featured the ALCS Boys against Cohen Hillel Academy. The Knights dominated the game from beginning to end, overpowering their opponents 38-18 with a balanced offensive attack. Coach Russ Glines and Assistant Coach Nick Tomaselli’s squad featured post play from Jared Rizzo and Stephen Basler, both from Tewksbury, and great inside out guard play from Justis Mitchell of Winchester and Sam DeAngelis of Wilmington.
