All-Star Season Nearly Underway
Four Wilmington youth baseball teams continue play into the summer.

The weather is heating up, and so is baseball season for young Wilmington athletes.
Four Wilmington all-star teams will play in their respective District 13 tournaments, entering play with expectations of extending their summer for as long as possible.
On Thursday, July 7, Wilmington’s 10- and 11-year-old squad opens play with a home game against Woburn National before traveling to play Assabet on Saturday, July 9, as part of Pool A play.

The team’s final tilt in pool action comes on Tuesday, July 12, against host Wakefield National. The top two teams in each pool will then advance to the semifinal games slated for Thursday, July 14 and the finals on Saturday, July 16.
There are high expectations for the town’s 11- and 12-year-old team, which made noise last year in the younger age bracket.

Wilmington opens pool play this year with a road tilt against Woburn American on Thursday, June 30 before all teams have a break for Fourth of July festivities.
After the layoff, Wilmington returns to work with a home game against Wakefield American on Tuesday, July 5, followed by another home game versus North Reading on Friday, July 8.
Pool play wraps up for Wilmington with a final game on the road against Stoneham scheduled for Tuesday, July 12. If the local nine are among the top two teams in the pool, they’ll continue play in the semifinals on Thursday, July 14, and a potential final tilt on Saturday, July 16.
Also in action this summer is the 13- and 14-year-old junior, which played along with three other teams.
The juniors open this Friday at home against Weston, then play on Tuesday, July 5, versus North Reading before a final tilt against Stoneham on Thursday July 7. The top two teams play for the district championship on Sunday, July 10.
Finally, the 15- and 16-year-old all-star team is in a bracket with a pair of other teams. Wilmington opens against North Reading on the road on Friday, July 1, and the winner plays Weston on Tuesday, July 5.
The double elimination tournament concludes on Sunday, July 10.
