WILMINGTON, MA — The Wilmington Police Department is participating in National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.
The event will be 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 25, at the police department at 1 Adelaide St.
Police wrote the following about the event:
National Drug Take Back Day is a good opportunity to take a hard look at what’s sitting in your medicine cabinet.
Unused and expired medications don’t just take up space. Too often, they end up in the wrong hands. That’s where problems start, and in many cases, it leads to real harm in our communities.
Across the country, people are stepping up and doing something about it. In 2025 alone, 596 tons of medications were safely turned in during the April and October Take Back Days. That’s a lot of potential misuse taken off the table.
We’re asking residents to do the same. Take a few minutes this week to go through your medications and set aside anything you no longer need. Then bring them to us for safe, anonymous disposal.
If you can’t make it on Saturday, we’ve got you covered. Medication and syringe disposal bins are available in our lobby 24/7.
Please note: we cannot accept liquid medications.
Clean it out. Turn it in. Do your part to keep the community safe.
