WILMINGTON, MA — Wilmington officials will unveil preliminary plans for a series of traffic improvements during a public meeting later this month, giving residents an opportunity to review the proposals and provide feedback before designs move forward.

The proposed improvements are tied to the town's new elementary school, which is planned for the current North Intermediate School property.

As part of the school planning process, a traffic study was conducted to assess how increased student enrollment could affect nearby roadways.

The study found traffic is expected to increase along the Middlesex Avenue and Salem Street corridor and identified potential upgrades to improve traffic flow, operations, and safety.

The town has hired Vanasse & Associates, Inc. to develop conceptual plans for roadway improvements at three intersections:

The preliminary concepts will be presented during the Select Board meeting on June 22. Town officials said the plans remain in the early conceptual stage, and the meeting is intended to gather public comments, concerns, and feedback before the project advances further in the design process.

More information is available at the town's website.
