• NOW HIRING: Wilmington Police Department Seeks Middle School Crossing Guard (wilmingtonapple.com) — The Town of Wilmington is hiring a school crossing guard for Wilmington Middle School and West Intermediate School, working weekday arrival and dismissal times during the school year. Reporting to the Police Chief, the role focuses on safely guiding students across busy areas, managing traffic with signals and stop signs, and relaying any safety concerns to school or police staff.
   

• Costume Craze donation event at the Wilmington Memorial Library (homenewshere.com) — Wilmington Memorial Library is kicking off Halloween early with its annual Costume Craze, collecting new or gently used kids' and teen costumes from September 1–28. Residents can then pick out free costumes at the library on October 3, with additional selections available in the Youth Services Room through October 17 while supplies last.
   

• Wilmington Represented At Scouting America's 2026 National Jamboree (wilmingtonapple.com) — Two members of Wilmington's Troop 56, Henry and Johnny Borgen, joined about 12,000 scouts at Scouting America's 2026 National Jamboree in West Virginia, packed with outdoor adventure and leadership training. Henry Borgen even served as Senior Patrol Leader for a Spirit of Adventure council contingent, and Troop 56 is inviting local boys 11–17 to get involved.
