Police provided advice to residents about avoiding fraud attempts.

WILMINGTON, MA — Police are warning residents about an uptick in tech support scams in the community.

We've seen an increase in Tech Support Scams in our community. Please take a moment to review this information and #PassItAlong to help protect family, friends, and neighbors.

Be cautious of:

~Random pop-up windows claiming your computer has a virus or needs immediate attention.

~Unexpected text messages asking you to click a link, call a number, or provide personal information.

~Anyone who pressures you to act immediately or requests remote access to your computer.

When in doubt, stop and verify before you click, call, or share information.
