WILMINGTON, MA — Police are searching for a truck involved in a fatal hit-and-run in Wilmington, according to a statement from Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan.
State and local police responded to I-93 northbound near exit 34 at 2 p.m. Monday on a report of a person in the road who had been hit by a truck.
The person died due to their injuries.
The truck driver did not remain at the scene of the accident and has not been identified.
The truck is a black-and-red vehicle with a dump truck body.
It's unclear why the person was in the road.
An investigation into the crash remains active.
Highway lanes were closed for several hours following the accident but have since reopened, according to NBC Boston.
