• HS football notebook: Shawsheen aims to extend win streak vs. rival Greater Lowell (lowellsun.com) — Wilmington High's football team has started 3-1 but just suffered a heartbreaking 22-20 overtime loss to Burlington as Middlesex League play began. Quarterback Mark Holleran, running back Julian Martins, and versatile playmaker Ayden Bellevy are powering the offense, while senior lineman Josue Rivera anchors the line. The Wildcats now turn their focus to a key matchup with Stoneham this week.
• Woburn celebrates opening of Vietnam Veterans Memorial Bridge at New Boston Street (homenewshere.com) — Commuting just got easier for many Wilmington drivers with the reopening and dedication of the New Boston Street Vietnam Veterans Memorial Bridge, restoring a key link between Wilmington, North Woburn's industrial park, and Anderson Regional Transportation Center. After decades of neighborhood debate and lobbying, the $28 million project now eases cut-through traffic in residential areas and supports thousands of nearby jobs and new apartments on the Wilmington side of the corridor.
